'Free bird!': Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform at Wisconsin State Fair

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin State Fair officials announced that Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform at the Bank Five Nine Main Stage on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The band, known for its influence on Southern rock, will play a set featuring hits spanning its five-decade career.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, formed in 1973 in Jacksonville, Fla. is one of the most recognized names in rock. Songs such as "Free Bird," "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Simple Man" continue to be part of their live performances. A special guest will be announced at a later date to open the show.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. and range from $70 to $90. Each ticket includes State Fair admission for the day of the concert.
