MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- From pop-up shop to a permanent retail location, owners of Wisconsin Curated Creations are embracing their new space.
"Our store consists of entrepreneurs throughout Wisconsin," said Bruce Riley, co-owner. "Everything is handmade, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind items."
Located at Mayfair Mall, the shop sells a variety of products, from clothing and accessories to art and furniture.
The owners, married couple Bruce Riley and Danielle Carter-Riley, say it's more than just a retail store.
"Our focus is the community, not only with bringing different vendors and small businesses into this space," said Carter-Riley.
One of their many vendors is Pamela McCreary of At Peace Design, who says selling her items at a brick and mortar shop has been positive.
"That brand recognition is really cool, and now I feel like I've been out here long enough that people are noticing it...feels like I've actually arrived," she said.
The shop also opened its doors to Laporche Kimber, a mother who's collecting donations that'll go to those mourning the loss of a loved one. Her son, Maurice Grimes, was a victim of gun violence at the age of 18.
"We just lost my son this past August to gun violence, so my daughter came up with the idea to have these survival kits and care packages... to lift their spirits," she said.
The store is stepping up and making positive change for the common good.
"Overwhelmed with joy, I knew something good had to come out of this," added Kimber.
