25-year-old arrested in connection to abduction of 7-year-old Jamal White
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old has been arrested in connection to the abduction of 7-year-old Jamal White.
White was abducted on Friday, July 11, while riding his bicycle on W. Hustis Street in Milwaukee.
White was found safely nearly 24 hours later.
A neighbor's surveillance video captured White riding his bicycle when a white Jeep Renegade SUV turned around.
Milwaukee police confirmed White was taken at gunpoint by a suspect in that vehicle.
Mynelious Mages, a nearby neighbor, says his grandkids were playing outside just moments before.
“I had just gotten my 7-year-old off of the streets about 10 minutes before that happened,” said Magee. “I hear screaming and hollering.”
Twenty-four hours later, White was found safe and returned home.
Milwaukee police have confirmed that a 25-year-old was arrested Saturday near N. 39th and Brown Street in connection to the abduction.
Police records indicate the individual was arrested on violation of probation. CBS 58 is not naming the individual because charges have not yet been filed.
One neighbor, who did not want to share her name, says she’s concerned about her daughter playing outside on their front lawn.
“‘Why can’t I go outside?’ And I'm like, 'Well, you have to wait for us.' She’s like, ‘Why? I go outside like all the time,’” she said.
She says she’s just thankful White was found.
“We come together when we need to,” she said.
Milwaukee police say charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office against the 25-year-old.
Police say other individuals have been arrested in connection to the investigation but did not say how they were involved.
