MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local company got to see firsthand how their latest giving campaign is helping people here in our hometowns Tuesday, Jan. 13. 

Generac just wrapped up their fifth annual Season of Giving campaign. 

Every year, the company chooses different items to collect from their employees that are donated to various organizations in our area.

This year, Generac collected over 800 pieces of winter gear -- from hats to gloves to warm winter jackets. 

Tuesday, those items were donated to three different local groups: The Northcott Neighborhood House, the School District of Waukesha, and La Casa de Esperanza. 

"We think it's important to not just have the company, let's say, making check presentations, but for the employees to also participate, and so this comes from their heart," said Community Programs Manager Kelly Skindzelewski.

Generac will continue their commitment to the community this weekend as they serve as the proud sponsor of the 41st Annual Waukesha Jamboree, running from Jan. 16-25.
