ST. LOUIS - Hector Gomez drove in Carlos Gomez with a 12th inning bloop single, and Francisco Rodriguez closed the door in the bottom of the inning to give the Brewers playoff hopes a much needed boost with a 3-2 win over the Cardinals Tuesday night.
Carlos Gomez stole second and third base in the top of the 12th, then scampered home on Hector Gomez's hit. The Brewers pitchers held the Cardinals scoreless over the final 11 innings of the game after giving up two runs to the Redbirds in the first.
The Pirates also won Monday, keeping the Brewers 1.5 games behind Pittsburgh in the NL wild card race. The Brewers play the Pirates this weekend.
