BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers was on "pothole patrol" Tuesday morning in Brown Deer.
He's continuing his statewide tour, helping crews patch potholes while touting his administration's plans to repair local roads and highways.
Since 2019, workers have repaired nearly 6,000 miles of roads and 1,600 bridges across the state.
Evers says his proposed budget for 2023-2025 has millions of dollars ear-marked for infrastructure improvements, but he's not sure state Republicans are on board.
"Too early to tell...we have $100 million in the budget for local infrastructure issues, especially roads," Gov. Evers said. "You take that across the state, that's not a lot of money, that's a reasonable approach, so hopefully we'll get that, but we'll see."
Evers says he's planning to meet with state Republican leadership this week on the shared revenue bill.
The current bill removed $60 million for traffic calming measures and money to fight reckless driving.
The governor says he hopes to see that put back into the final bill.
