NOW: Grab a pint! Port Washington Beer Week kicks of this weekend

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis (CBS 58) — Raise a glass! Saturday is the start of Port Washington's third annual Beer Week.

"This is an entire week of craft beer matchups so you can find fantastic specials at all of our bars and restaurants," said Kristina Tadeo, Executive Director Port Washington Main Street.

Kristina Tadeo is the Executive Director of Port Washington Main Street. She says festivities start Saturday, March 1, with Flannel Fest.

"It's another fantastic walk-through town beer and trivia so you can get 16 different craft beer samples plus trivia. We have a really cool beer trophy that's always popular," said Tadeo.

Dating back to the 1800's, Port Washington is known for its rich brewing history.

"It started before Wisconsin even became a state. We have been brewing right here on the lake right across from Lake Michigan, and now we have investors brew pub on Lake Michigan, so just continuing that great tradition," said Tadeo.

While it keeps traditions alive, Tadeo says beer weeks also helps with tourism during these colder months.

"This is a great reason for them to come out and experience our beautiful downtown right on Lake Michigan and a fun way to keep that brewing history going."

Staying on brand, you can play and win beer-themed prizes.

"We have a really fun beer bingo card. Get your stamp and win all kinds of great beer swag and prizes throughout the week," said Tadeo.

Port Washington Beer Week runs March 1-9.
