Green Bay Packers acquire Milwaukee-based Foamation, makers of iconic Cheesehead hat 🧀

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Green Bay Packers has expanded its portfolio by acquiring Foamation Inc., the Milwaukee-based company known for creating the iconic Cheesehead hat worn by Packer fans across the globe.

Foamation, founded by Ralph Bruno in 1987, has been a fixture in the Wisconsin sports scene, with the original Cheesehead hat becoming a widely known symbol for Packers fans.

As announced in a Monday, July 24 press release, the acquisition comes as the Bruno family sought to transition from their 30-year enterprise, considering the Packers were already the largest purchaser of Foamation's products. The Packers have long sold the products in the Packers Pro Shop.

"We have had a very special relationship with the Packers over the years," said Bruno, "and we are both very excited about what the Packers can do with the Cheesehead going forward."

Packers vice president of marketing and fan engagement Gabrielle Dow noted, "We’re looking forward to building upon the legacy the Bruno family has created over the years and offering our fans even more Cheesehead items to love."

All Cheesehead hats and related foam products will continue to be manufactured in Wisconsin.
