Previewing upcoming events in Racine County
Mike Seavert has been a Packers fan all his life.
But the Greenfield man really got hooked after experiencing his first game at Lambeau back 2001.
"It was the best game. Favre threw an interception and LeRoy Butler went out with shoulder injury," recalls the math teacher. "but the atmosphere got me hooked. Lambeau is a special place to be and I just started going to more events and the rest is history."
Seavert had no idea that a former student named Logan had nominated him.
In the letter, the student writes that "Mr. Seavert encompasses every attribute a true Packer Backer should exhibit. He is a dedicated, selfless, caring mentor and outstanding role model for all students, the community and friends."
Seavert said he had no idea the student had sent the letter until it was announced he was a finalist.
"It was a surprise," Seavert said during a live appearance on the CBS 58 News at 4. "I had no idea."
Seavert was nominated once before. That was back in 2004.
"People do get second chances and hopefully, fingers crossed, this is it."
There are two other local nominees:
Felicia Reed of Milwaukee
Allie Healy of Franklin
