MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Work has officially started on a new dog park in downtown Milwaukee.
The park will be located near Plankinton and Clybourn.
Once it is finished, the park will be 22,000 square feet, with separate fenced-in areas for small and large dogs, as well as water stations.
Some dog owners told CBS 58 that they felt lost after Runway Dog Park closed in 2022.
But officials say this new park will provide what some people have been missing.
"You need a third location, you need a dedicated location that provides the amenities that every suburban house generally has, and that is a backyard or a front yard," said Alderman Robert Bauman.
No one left empty handed today. People and their pets received Pete's Pops, dog treats and beer samples.
