MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A groundbreaking and blessing ceremony was held Tuesday morning, May 27, marking the start of a school expansion project in Milwaukee.
Notre Dame of Milwaukee-St. Florian Campus is home to the school's middle school program for boys. Dozens of students and staff gathered in front of the construction site on S. 45th Street to bless the grounds.
The expansion has been in the works for the past two years as part of a $15 million "Together We Grow Capital Campaign."
Some of that money will also go toward renovating the girls' school and a scholarship for families in need.
"The last year has been listening to students, what they want to see in their school. So, we are excited to build them a new gym, a new library, soccer field," said school president Patrick Landry.
Landry says construction should be done by the time school starts this fall.
