Hales Corners is glowing during the 6th annual China Lights
HALES CORNERS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Based on traditional Chinese lantern festivals, China Lights brings elaborate glowing lantern designs to Hales Corners every year.
It's the 6th annual China Lights. This year, the theme is Nature's Glow: a journey through gardens, oceans and forests.
"We'll take you through a coral reef, and we'll come under the ocean," said Shirley Walczak, the director for the Boerner Botanical Gardens.
Twinkle lights mimic the ocean floor, puffer fish puff and crab claws open and close.
"We have so much more movement and light changing, and just a lot of new technology that has come out in the last seven years," said Walczak. "Thats just amazing, to make these shows better and better each year."
You could walk through many times and still find something new.
"It's jam packed," said Walczak. "We try to keep it all fresh all the lanterns are new."
It's nearly a mile long walk. Once you get through the ocean, you're transported to a forest.
"We'll have an erupting volcano and chameleon that changes colors," said Walczak.
There are 100 lanterns that are new, not appearing last year. They were previously displayed in France before they were brought to the US. At the end of the path, there's an interactive space that brings these lanterns even more to life.
