WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Beagles removed from Ridglan Farms will be welcomed to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County (HAWS).

According to HAWS, they are partnering with Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, along with local and national organizations, to help with the rescue and adoption of the beagles.

A total of 1,500 beagles were removed from Ridglan Farms, a dog breeding and research facility.

HAWS expects to welcome up to 20 beagles to the Waukesha shelter with their arrival planned the week of May 11.

“We know dogs are resilient, but in these circumstances their resiliency will likely vary. We are going to support these dogs with whatever is needed, to ensure long-term success in their loving homes. Our priority is to give these dogs the best life possible going forward," said HAWS Executive Director Maggie Tate-Techtmann.

HAWS' executive director says one of the best ways to support them right now is to adopt one of the dogs currently living in the shelter.
