MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Angelo Quin, 27, was hit and killed by a vehicle passing by on I-43 near Holt Avenue Saturday evening.
"He was a good kid that loved everyone," said Sylvia Adiar, his aunt.
Quin was a veteran, son, and uncle.
On Veterans Day night, he was driving southbound with two other people in the car when he ran out of gas. He started filling up the tank when he was hit by another vehicle. The driver of the car pulled over and ran over to see if he was okay.
Two Good Samaritans also stopped to help including 16-year-old Josh Herkert.
He said as he was passing by he had this thought: "I have to stop and help."
Herkert and the other Good Samaritan started administering CPR before emergency crews got there.
For Herkert, this is something he learned from the Hales Corners Fire Department where he is an intern.
‘Whoever they are I just want them to know that I am grateful to them because they didn’t need to do what they did," said Adair.
Josh said he's glad he could help but he's sad Quin didn't make it.
“It was not only disappointing but it was sad. My prayers and thoughts go out to this gentlemen," said Herkert.
Quin's family has started a GoFundMe account for his funeral expenses. If you'd like to help, click here.
