"He's just destroyed my life:" Woman speaks out after accusing former teacher of sexual assault
WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A woman is accusing her former teacher of sexual assault.
She's now confronting the man decades after the abuse took place.
Carri Zarske says keeping the secret destroyed her life. She now hopes she can inspire other victims to come forward.
Gary Blaschke was a teacher and coach in Elmbrook Schools for thirty years.
In January, Zarske emailed him, confronting him with what she says he did to her when she was a student.
"He sexually assaulted me for for years," Zarske says.
Zarske received a response in which he allegedly didn't deny her accusations, apologizing instead and hoping to make amends.
Zarske is now seeking criminal prosecution.
"He was in a position where he should have protected us. He was our mentor. We should trust our teachers," said Zarske.
Elmbrooks Superintendent says a district investigation concluded indisputable that Blaschke did indeed commit sexual abuse.
Zarske says that sharing her story is an important step on her journey and she hopes it will have a ripple effect.
"My point was to get the other victims out and have him held accountable."
