Holiday weekend outlook: Dry but cooler than normal

NOW: Holiday weekend outlook: Dry but cooler than normal

It's Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer! And since this is Wisconsin, we play by different rules. It will not feel anything like summer over the next few days, but it will be dry.

Keep in mind that the typical high this time of year is right around 70 degrees. So these values are about 8-12 degrees lower than average.

For those who may be traveling around the region, it appears most areas are going to remain dry through the long weekend. That said, there may be a few spotty showers in northern Wisconsin Saturday and perhaps again on Sunday. This is a snapshot of Saturday:

As far as temperatures go, it's all about your location. Expect highs to hold in the 50s closer to Lake Michigan, while readings should easily be in the 60s and 70s elsewhere.

Our next chance for any meaningful rain doesn't show up until late Tuesday into Wednesday as a system quickly zips by to our south. There are still some finer details to iron out, but the general idea is that we have a shot at some rain. Right now we are not concerned about severe weather from this Tuesday/Wednesday system.

Enjoy the holiday weekend and don't forget to take a moment to honor and remember those who gave their all so we could have the freedoms that we do.
