Huge underage drinking party busted
MEQUON - Police cited and fined a 57 year old woman for hosting an underage drinking party where some of the guests had blood alcohol levels two and half times the legal limit. The party was held on January 3rd at a home on North River Road where the woman lives. 33 underage drinkers were cited. Police say their alcohol content varied from .01 to .20, or two and half times the legal limit. 21 people were also cited for obstruction. Police say when they investigated the anonymous tip about the party they were met at the door by a teenager with alcohol on his breath. That teen told them to get a warrant. Police returned with a warrant and made the bust, but it wasn't easy. Police say party guests hid in the attic, the garage and anywhere they could find including between two mattresses. Mequon Police say for some reason they've seen an uptick in underage drinking recently. Police Chief Steve Graff says this was one of the largest underage drinking parties he can remember. The Chief says investigations like this are very taxing on the department's resources.
