MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday morning, a Hunger Task Force truck was parked at Milwaukee's Clinton Rose Senior Center.
When you see that, it often means they're dropping off food, but that wasn't exactly the case today. What they were delivering will keep hometown seniors well-fed.
Louise Scott was picking up one of the $45 vouchers that were handed out Tuesday at the senior center. The vouchers can be used to buy fruit, vegetables and other items at local farmers markets, roadside stands and other agricultural programs.
To qualify, you have to be a low-income senior, 60 or older. We saw a lot of people stopping by for their vouchers and no one was more enthusiastic than Louise Scott.
"We need this, especially in this community," Scott said. "A lot of people don't drive. I, myself, am blessed. I do drive, so I do get around, but this right here allows me to come right in the community, right in the area, pick up something and I can also use it in the community and our stores in the area."
If you missed Tuesday's voucher distribution, there will be two more - one on Thursday and one next Wednesday, July 17.
