GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A husky is in recovery after a harrowing journey that left her with several injuries after running away from home.
The Wisconsin Humane Society is asking for donations in helping the recovery of Stella in a Facebook post. They say that she ran away from home, was shot and then leapt off an overpass in the Village of Howard - landing on the road 30 feet below.
This all happened within a couple days, says WHS.
Why she was shot and why she jumped is unknown, according to WHS, but her body shows it all - from metal fragments from an apparent gunshot wound, internal bleeding and severe damage to her lungs and chest.
WHS says that she was saved by Good Samaritans who witnessed her 30-foot plunge. They called police who were able to capture her and rush her to an emergency vet.
Despite the pain and injuries, WHS says she is a very happy girl. "It was face licks and kisses all around," said a veterinarian with WHS in the Facebook post.
She is currently recovering from a successful open-chest surgery and other various injuries at the WHS Green Bay campus.
WHS is seeking out donations to help with her recovery. If you would like to donate, click on the link here.
