KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Somers Fire and Rescue team says a fiery crash involving multiple semis and vehicles has injured eight people.

It happened on Friday, Oct. 18th at around 3:00 p.m., in the 600 Block of I-94 South in Kenosha County.

Upon arrival, officials say the accidents included three semi trucks and four vehicles, with two of the trucks and one of the vehicles on fire.

Somers Fire and Rescue say numerous surrounding area departments responded to assist with the incident.

And while fire suppression operations were taken, it was also discovered that fuel which had leaked and ignited had found its way to the storm drains, causing a large vegetation fire in the ditch east of the Interstate.

Officials say a total of eight patients were checked on, with four of them being taken to hospitals.

All victims are expected to survive.

The interstate remained shutdown for nearly six hours as crews were on scene working and cleaning up.

The area has since reopened.
