GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Greenfield man had to fight off coyotes with his bare hands in order to save his own dog.
He even threw one of them by their tail.
A dog named Princess was attacked by two coyotes earlier in July. When that happened, the owner knew he had to help in any way he could.
"I was just scared. I was scared for her. I had a buddy of mine up in Greendale that lost a dog a couple of years ago to coyotes. And I was just worried about her being all bit up and such," said Scott Schach.
Schach says he was sitting outside with Princess on July 11 when the dog wandered up to two coyotes.
He says a fight started right away with barking, yipping, and biting.
Schach says he jumped into the fight and tried to pick and punch the coyotes but that wasn't working. That's when he got a hold of their tail.
"Somehow I got a hold of one of their tails, turned around she bit my arm, got a hold of her leg and I just flung her, just gave her a fling, she bounced off my pickup truck, went up the front windshield into the night and that's the last I saw of that one," said Schach.
Schach says Princess had the other by the neck but he told her to let go and that coyote ran oiff.
Schach says the coyotes were about half the size of his dog.
He did take Princess to the vet. She wasn't injured and is reported to be doing just fine.
