MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hockey fans in Milwaukee have been waiting almost a year-and-a-half for the Admirals to return to the ice.
It's finally scheduled to happen on Oct. 16, but first there has to be ice to skate on.
"They paint the floor, put a few coats of paint on here. White. And then they have to slowly layer in the ice," said Milwaukee Admirals Vice President Charlie Larsen.
CBS 58 was there Tuesday, Sept. 28, as crews started the process of creating the sheet of ice for Admirals' games. It's a day-long process including painting the Admirals' logo at center ice.
COVID shut down the Admirals in March of 2020, and they haven't played since.
"This is a family. These people are family. We see them six months, seven months of the year and so then to not be able to see them is, it's sad right? And so it's really exciting to get back and see them on a regular basis, not to mention watch some awesome hockey," Larsen said.
It’s all coming together.
