Friday evening a community gathered to remember a woman who was a victim of domestic violence. Roxana Abrudan was staying with a friend in Mt. Pleasant to get away from her abusive husband. Police say on Wednesday night he found her and killed her with a hatchet.
\"Just to hear about her, made my heart just drop,\" said Brittany Goetz, a domestic abuse survivor.Abrudan's husband Cristian Loga-Negru has been charged with her murder and is expected back in court in December.
The Women's Resource Center organized the vigil that brought out many who have survived domestic abuse themselves.
\"It means a lot to me to see all of these other women here and know that I'm not the only one,\" said Goetz, \"I've been there before and I know a lot of people who have been there.\"
Those who attended the vigil also took a moment to remember 11-month old Serenity Rose. Serenity died earlier this week in Kenosha by her father, who also attacked her mom.
