Interim superintendent named for Milwaukee Public Schools
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee School Board has made their choice for the new interim superintendent.
The board says after interviewing the final three candidates, they decided to extend the offer to Eduardo Galvan.
Galvan has been the acting superintendent of the district since the start of the month.
The offer was made on Monday, and the appointment is expected to be finalized at the board meeting on Thursday.
In a statement, board president Marva Herndon says:
"We are confident in the leadership Mr. Galvan brings to MPS and to this role. Additionally, this step moves the district closer to having an interim superintendent in place before the beginning of the school year, which is critical to our goal of serving the students and families of MPS in the best way possible.”
The board still intends to hold a national search for a permanent replacement.
