WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- A big change is coming for high school athletes in Wisconsin.

Member schools in the WIAA, the organization that oversees prep sports, voted overwhelmingly to allow athletes to enter into NIL activities that don't involve their schools.

Essentially, that means they will be able to make money from their name, image and likeness.

NIL has been a fact of life for college athletes for a few years.

High school athletes across Wisconsin will be able to officially begin monetizing their NIL at the end of May.
