International Walk to School Day

You've heard of distracted driving, now local school kids are learning about distracted walking.  \"Make sure when you're walking, you take the ear buds out so you can listen and you put  your cell phone down or your device down so you're not distracted so you can pay attention and see drivers too\" said Lisa Klint-Simpson with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.  Children's Hospital was joined by members of Safe Kids Southeast Wisconsin, Milwaukee Police, teachers and parents during an event Wednesday marking International Walk to School Day.   A growing number of young people are being injured or killed while walking to and from school.  Organizers of today's event at Auer Avenue School got out the message that walking alert is also safe walking.   Nearly 800 schools nationwide took part in activities on Wednesday.
