Pewaukee man accused of sexually assaulting multiple children, dating back 'many years'
PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities arrested a 51-year-old Pewaukee man Tuesday, Oct. 26, on multiple charges involving the sexual assault of children.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office assisted the Racine Police Department in executing a search warrant in Pewaukee, resulting in the arrest of James Wicht.
He faces the following charges:
- First degree sexual assault of a child -- four counts
- Child abuse, intentionally cause harm -- two counts
- Child sexual exploitation, videos and records
Officials say Wicht allegedly used the guise of illegitimate physical exams to gain access to his victims.
According to a criminal complaint, Wicht asked to conduct the exams "to keep his insurance and other certifications up to date," in one case claiming that he needed to do so for his finals exams for a paramedic licensure.
Investigators believe Wicht assaulted multiple children, dating back many years.
"His front that he put up to commit these crimes oftentimes seemed legitimate," said Racine Police Department Lt. Chad Melby. "So that's how he gained access. So even if you feel like it was legitimate, please call us so we can speak to you further."
The Racine Police Department and Waukesha County Sheriff's Department are looking to identify and speak to possible victims.
