'It's a big headache': Milwaukee drivers brace for busy weekend of road closures, events
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — More roads will be closed throughout Milwaukee this weekend as the USA Triathlon National Championships take over portions of the lakefront.
From 4 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, the following stretches of road will be closed:
- North Harbor Drive from East Clybourn Street to North Lincoln Memorial Drive
- East Clybourn Street from North Lincoln Memorial Drive to North Art Museum Drive
- East Michigan Street from North Lincoln Memorial Drive to its eastern end
The Hoan Bridge will also be closed from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The closures come during an already busy weekend in southeastern Wisconsin, with the first weekend of the Wisconsin State Fair and the Brewers hosting the Minnesota Twins.
Christian Karhenbuhl was at the State Fair on Friday afternoon.
"Anytime trying to get downtown, it's a big headache," Karhenbuhl said. "We try to avoid it when we can, but try to find alternate routes if need be."
Brian Haapanen and his wife are visiting from Minnesota for the State Fair and the three-game series between the Brewers and Twins.
"It's been good as far as we know, but then we got in here early this morning, so we'll give it a try now and see how it is," Haapanen said.
