Jack White rocks Milwaukee's Bay View with surprise concerts

 

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A legendary rockstar has been making surprise appearances in Milwaukee!

12-time Grammy winner Jack White, best known as the lead singer and guitarist for the band White Stripes, continued his spontaneous tour at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee Friday.

"It's cool that someone that big will come around for us," said fan Rocky Hudson.

It was no easy feat for fans to secure tickets as they say the website crashed multiple times while they tried to secure the limited tickets at the Cactus Club. Tickets sold out fast and the line was out the door to get in.

Friday's concert was not just for a good time. it was also for a good cause. A portion of the money raised is going towards making the 140-year-old building ADA compliant. The goal is to build a ramp leading to the front door so it can be accessible for people of all needs.

"I happen to fall into that category, so it makes me very happy that not only are they trying to raise the funds to make it more accessible, but that they've got other artists that are helping," said Heather Lewin, a Jack White fan.

Lewin was the first one in line Friday, but other fans were not so lucky and stayed outside hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.

"I am currently out here hoping that I somehow find my way in," said Hudson. "I did not get a ticket in time, but I'm just hoping there is a miracle that happens."

Jack White is sticking around in Milwaukee and will be performing Saturday at The Rave at 8:00 p.m. for another sold out crowd.

Jack White first surprised Milwaukee with an unannounced show at the Vanguard Thursday night, Oct. 24. 

It wasn't the only surprise gig for White. Earlier on Thursday, he performed at High Noon Saloon in Madison, a venue with a 200 to 300-person capacity.

After the Madison show, the band headed east surprised Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood by performing at the Vanguard's 10th anniversary celebration.

The Vanguard is a locally owned bar and restaurant located in the heart of Bay View, offering house-made sausages with a casual, corner bar experience.
