Johnsonville recalls cheddar bratwursts due to possible plastic contamination
WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Johnsonville, LLC, is recalling around 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwursts that may be contaminated with hard plastic, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recalled items were produced on Feb. 5. 19 ounce sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst” and the package code B9FOD are subject to recall, according to the FSIS. The recalled brats have the establishment number “Est. 1647” on the front of the label. They were shipped to multiple states such as Wisconsin, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The problem was discovered when the firm notified the FSIS that they had two customer complaints about hard plastic material being found in their bratwurst.
The FSIS says there have been no confirmed injuries from it. If you have brats in your freezer that match this description, the FSIS urges consumers to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
