Jury finds Thomas Routt guilty in homicide of couple at Elkhorn bar

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A jury found Thomas Routt guilty Friday, June 27, in the murder of a newlywed couple at an Elkhorn bar.
Routt was charged with shooting Emerson and Gina Weingart during an armed robbery at The Sports Page Barr just after midnight Feb. 1, 2024.
Investigators say Routt also shot at a third person, but she wasn't hit.
A guilty verdict was read in on Friday for six charges, including two counts first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of methamphetamine.
Court records show a sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 26.
