MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For two years in a row, hurricanes have left a trail of heartbreak in the state of Georgia. It's where Brewers pitcher DL Hall grew up. Hall's now doing what he can from Milwaukee to send love back home.

Hall's giving it his all in practice, but off the field, his "all" is about the people of Valdosta, Georgia. The hurricane tossed large tree branches at the homes of his mother, grandparents and aunts, in one case leaving a large gaping hole in their roof.

"It's crazy because I actually went through the same thing last year, getting ready for playoffs with Baltimore," said DL Hall.

Valdosta, Georgia, had barely cleaned up from 2023's Hurricane Idalia, and now this.

"It's all replaceable. Just hoping everyone's safe and yeah, like that," said Hall.

Hurricane Helene has once again brought the city to a standstill with levelled homes, widespread flooding and power outages.

"Luckily none of my family completely lost their homes but there's a lot of families out there that did, that don't have power or water or anything right now, or any ways to cook," said Hall.

From a thousand miles away, Hall jumped online and set up a GoFundMe to help Valdosta residents who've lost everything.

"We have food trucks going around handing out free plates, and also supply stations. They're also delivering around for families that are at hotels and what not, and also, like I said, we're gonna have tents set up to where they can come get necessities -- gas, tarps, cases of water and things like that," said Hall.

We caught up with Hall at Monday's workout, the team's last before the playoffs get underway. The National League Wild Card round pits the Brewers against the Mets.

"I don't let it take away from my job and stuff. I think it actually just makes me lock in a little bit more and play a little bit harder to try and provide for as many people as I can," said Hall.

According to the Valdosta Daily Times, Hurricane Helene is responsible for at least 25 deaths in Georgia, including three in Valdosta. Former President Donald Trump toured damages in Valdosta Monday.

"Valdosta has been ravaged. The town is uh, very, very badly hurting," said former President Trump.

As for the fundraising that Hall's doing, he says any amount helps.
