Kam Jones returns to Marquette next season
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - The Marquette Golden Eagles will be returning one of their top three scorers from this past season.
Kam Jones announced on his X page, "I'm staying home," for his senior season. Despite no recognition for the Big East conference postseason awards, Jones is had his best season and was gaining some NBA recognition in online mock drafts.
Jones led the Golden Eagles with 17.2 points per game playing in 36 of 37 games helping Marquette make the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2013. He scored in double figures in all but three games this past season, reaching 30 or more points three times including career-highs of 34 points twice.
Jones announcement comes after both Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro declared for the NBA Draft.
Kolek was second on the Golden Eagles with 15.3 points per game and led the team in assists with 7.7 assists. Kolek, the 2022-23 Big East Player of the year, was a consensus All-American in back-to-back seasons.
Ighodaro was third on the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game and led MU in rebounding at 6.9 per game.
The NBA draft is on June 26-27 with the first and second rounds now being split between the two days.
