Keep Cool and Enjoy that Breeze

Driving on an open road with the wind coming against your face, scenic views from the corner of your eyes, sounds like a great time, right? With the complete freedom that driving a motorcycle gives you, what can be better than that?

Driving with all that, plus knowing that you are not at risk is probably the best way to do it. It is always nice not having to worry or stress about all the things that can go wrong. So now that summer is finally here, let’s take some safety measures to drive on that open road more carefully, especially on a motorcycle.

  • Hydration is key. Drink plenty of water before you start riding, make some stops and drink up after. Drinking frequently will help prevent dehydration and heatstroke when you are on the road.
  • Avoid the hottest hours. It does seem to be a great time to start riding, but the intense heat can do a lot more harm to you than you can imagine. Take a break and wait out the hottest part of the day before riding.
  • Shorts are cool, but full-coverage riding apparel is cooler. It is nice to have the breeze up against your body, but with all the elements, more surface for heat exposure or potential injuries, shorts and short-sleeved T-shirts just are not the best options. Stay cool, but also stay safe.

As one of the top motorcycle litigation firms in the United States, the motorcycle accident lawyers at Hupy and Abraham have successfully represented well over 4,000 injured riders -- because we are riders ourselves.
