MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kohl's corporate office in Menomonee Falls has confirmed the company reduced approximately 10% of their corporate positions.

They say more than half of the reduction will come from closing open positions, while the remainder of the positions were currently held by associates.

Kohl's says this decision was made "to increase efficiencies and improve profitability for the long-term health and benefit of the business."

The statement says in part, "Knowing the impact this has on our associates, we took this decision very seriously. All impacted associates have been informed, and we provided competitive severance packages to help support their transition. We sincerely thank our associates for their dedication to Kohl's."

Earlier this month, Kohl's announced plans to close 27 store locations along with their San Bernardino fulfillment center.
