Labor Day at the ballpark: Brewers, Cubs rivalry in full swing at AmFam Field

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 40,000 people spent their Labor Day at the ballpark. The Milwaukee Brewers hosted the Chicago Cubs in their final series during the regular season Monday, Sept. 7. For one couple, it was an unforgettable day.

Fans flocked to American Family Field ahead of the 1:10 first pitch to tailgate. CBS 58 came across one family reunion where relatives from La Crosse, Prairie du Chien and Chicago all met for the game.

Others stepped up their tailgates to match the intensity of an I-94 series that could be an appetizer for a playoff rematch between the Brewers and Cubs.

One couple grilled up chicken shish kabobs, saying this is a big series, so they had to go beyond brats and hot dogs.

There was plenty of friendly smack talk and most of the fans we heard from say they would welcome having the two teams meet in the playoffs for the second straight year.

The Brewers are on their way to beating the Cubs for the NL Central crown, which some fans in blue and gold were quick to point out to their pals in blue and red.

For a couple from Port Washington, Monday's game was truly special. They announced they are expecting a baby come April on live TV. Watch it below.
