Lake Geneva Fire Department fought fire at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp

Lake Geneva Fire Department was dispatched to 1724 West Main Street for a reported structure fire at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp on October 4 at 12:12 PM.

The fire was found in the Carriage House.  A second alarm was transmitted through MABAS, bringing additional companies from surrounding fire departments.  Crews initiated an aggressive attack to extinguish the fire.  The building sustained extensive interior damage.  One firefighter was transported to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.  Cause and origin are under investigation.

“We are fortunate that the Lake Geneva Fire Department staffs a duty crew at the fire house on weekends as well as week days.  This enabled us to get a full engine crew out the door rapidly and get water on the fire quickly.  Since a fire can double in size every 30 seconds, a fast response makes all the difference in the world.  All of the crews worked hard to limit the damage from this fire” said Assistant Chief Pat Heindl.
