MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee’s own running club Buena Tierra Run Club just accomplished a feat: running a 340-mile relay race through the desert!
Patrick Chaves, co-founder of the club, says 12 runners, and 5 support crew members from BTRC just completed what's called "The Speed Project". It's a 340 mile relay race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
Participants ran about 25 to 35 miles each through the Mojave desert and Death Valley. Their end time of 46 hours and 6 minutes put them in 47th place out of 83 teams!
You can join the running club made for and by Latino runners, but welcome to runners of all kinds, on their weekly runs. They meet every Wednesday at Zocalo Food Truck Park in the southside of Milwaukee starting at 6 p.m. and on Sundays outside La Finca Coffeehouse in St. Francis starting at 9 a.m. You can follow them on their Facebook and Instagram.
