Lawmaker pulls child support reform bill
MADISON -- A controversial child support bill will not get a hearing at the Wisconsin State Capitol. State Representative Joel Kleefisch has pulled the bill after concerns over what was written.
The bill tells judges they can't consider incomes above $150,000 in calculating child support. Critics accuse Kleefisch of pushing this bill at the behest of a wealthy constituent in the midst of a child support case.
Representative Kleefisch says, \"If we ignored the constituency we wouldn't be doing our jobs.\" Kleefisch told CBS 58 no more attention was paid to this one constituent than any other constituent who calls his office.
Kleefisch plans to bring this bill back in some form, but doesn't know when that will happen.
