MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some in Milwaukee Thursday celebrated the legacy of Cesar Chavez, a towering figure in the fight for civil rights and social justice.
A photo exhibit is on display at Flores Hall on Milwaukee's south side, hosted by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation and Mexican Fiesta, Inc until 8 p.m. Thursday night.
Teresa Mercado is the executive director, and she says you can hear from local civil rights activists Jesus Salas and Ernesto Chacon.
"Hear their experience and see how much they sacrificed in order for us to enjoy what we have - from having access to the university to being the founders of many institutions that are, you know, here in the community now, serving our community, like Sixteenth Street Clinic, UMOS and Mexican Fiesta," Mercado said.
Jesus Salas will also sign books alongside another author, Antonio Guajardo Jr.
