BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Pumpkin is finding its way into more than just lattes this season. Life Time Brookfield discussed the health benefits of pumpkin and shared a pumpkin pie protein shake recipe.
Frankie Fleury, Assistant Lead, LifeCafe, joined us on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to chat about natural pumpkin being rich in beta carotene, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Beta carotene, also found in sweet potatoes and carrots, supports eye and skin health.
Fleury suggested making pumpkin items at home to control ingredients and reduce added sugars. Their pumpkin pie protein shake contains pure pumpkin and nearly 30 grams of protein.
The shake includes pumpkin puree, banana, unsweetened nut milk, vanilla protein powder, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and ice. All ingredients are blended until smooth and served immediately.
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 banana
- 1 cup unsweetened nut milk (such as almond, cashew, or coconut)
- 1 serving vanilla Life Time protein powder
- 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup ice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
