Local wildlife center hosting orientation to expand volunteer team

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wildlife in Need Center is hosting an adult volunteer orientation on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m.

As a nonprofit organization that admits over 1,500 wildlife patients yearly, the center relies on volunteers to assist with various tasks, such as admissions, emergency phone calls and hands-on care for injured or sick wildlife.

To become a volunteer, individuals must first attend an orientation session, like the one scheduled for March 26. Due to limited space, interested participants should RSVP.

Prospective volunteers can download the 2023 Adult Volunteer Application and Release by clicking here and bring it to the orientation. Blank copies will also be available at the event.

Following the orientation, volunteers will work alongside staff, helping with day-to-day care of wildlife patients. Tasks include diet preparation, enclosure set up and cleaning, laundry, animal handling and more.

The Wildlife in Need Center has been treating and caring for sick, injured and orphaned indigenous wildlife since 1994. Open 365 days a year, the center is supported by private donations, grants and over 75 dedicated volunteers.
