MILWUAKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department Mounted Patrol Foundation is grieving the death of officer Jill, the longest-serving equine officer.

The MPD Mounted Patrol Foundation announced her passing in a Facebook post Wednesday, April 8. 

The MPD Mounted Patrol Foundation says that she served the community for 19 years and retired two years ago. An officer adopted her after retirement, and she lived the rest of her days surrounded by love, treats and honor.

According to the Facebook post announcing her death, she passed away suddenly from catastrophic colic.
