WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- It was a beautiful day for a round of golf in Pewaukee. Western Lakes Golf Club looked green and glorious.
This particular golf event was organized to address a national tragedy, the tragic toll taken by fentanyl.
Erin Rachwal lost her son Logan to fentanyl poisoning in 2021.
Now she and husband Rick are dedicated to spreading the word about the killer drug.
This golf outing raised money to help the Love, Logan Foundation educate people about fentanyl.
Erin Rachwal says one reason young people are susceptible to fentanyl in pills is the fact that pills are a normal part of their lives.
"Every kid is so used to seeing pills in their home," said Rachwal. "Whether it's allergy medication or Tylenol or Ibuprofen or ADHD medications, or they see parents taking medications. So if they're at school or if they're off to college like Logan was, and they see one pill and it looks real, they're not scared."
The Rachwal family also wants people to understand the impact fentanyl deaths have on brothers and sisters of victims.
They announced Monday that next April 3 the Love, Logan Foundation is starting a National Sibling Awareness Grieving Day.
