Make Prom Possible fundraiser takes financial stress off local students
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some local students will get to go to prom, thanks to a generous donation.
Last week, we told you about FashUp's Make Prom Possible fundraiser raising money to cover students' prom tickets across Milwaukee.
Tuesday, FashUp gifted students at Washington High School a $500 check. That money will help students who would normally struggle to afford going to prom attend the big dance.
There was a room full of dresses and suits students could choose from so they could look and feel their best, too.
"It's taking the financial stress off the kids, emotional stress off the students, and lastly, it's making their moments for the rest of their life," said parent Nadia Ransom. "They'll remember this forever."
"I was very indecisive on going to prom in the first place," junior Akira Lang said. "I just decided today that I wanted to go, and I didn't have nothing. And Ms. Ransom helped me find things."
We're told the donation has helped 60 kids at the school so far.
Washington High School's prom is Friday night. The theme is "A Night in the Wild."
