Milwaukee man charged in death of 11-year-old bound over for trial
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man charged in the death of an 11-year-old boy was bound over for trial Friday, Sept. 8.
Court records show Sylvester Thomas pleaded not guilty to one count second-degree reckless homicide and one count hit-and-run involving death.
He's accused of hitting 11-year-old Tyrone Reese with his car while the child was riding his bike near Hoyt and Fond Du Lac Avenue on Aug. 27. Thomas fled the scene but later turned himself in to authorities the following day. The child died on Aug. 30.
According to a criminal complaint, witnesses described seeing two cars that appeared to be racing, traveling at around 80 mph in a 30-mph zone. One witness reported watching one of the cars swerve to avoid hitting the child before the second car struck him.
A bail/bond hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21.
