Man found guilty in fatal Riverwest shooting sentenced to 2 years behind bars
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man found guilty of fatally shooting his friend back on May 27, learned his fate.
In court on Thursday, Nov. 21, John Huff was sentenced to two years behind bars and three years extended supervision.
Huff was found guilty of homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon.
Investigators say Huff was a passenger in a vehicle and wanted to show another person in the car he could disassemble a gun. The gun was accidentally discharged and struck his friend in the back, identified as Hunter Nachreiner of Woodstock, Illinois.
In an interview with Huff following the shooting, he stated in part, "I was just an idiot. I was trying to take it apart. I usually don't carry a round in the chamber, and so I pulled the slide back, locked it back, and I didn't take the mag out, that was my problem..."
