MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 62-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday evening in Milwaukee.

It happened around 6:30 p.m., near Astor and Ogden -- on Milwaukee's east side. 

The pedestrian -- identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as Gregory Skaar -- was struck by going southbound by a passing vehicle. Despite being rushed to the hospital and receiving treatment, they succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and has been cooperating with Milwaukee police in regard to the investigation, which is still ongoing.
