Turkish National charged in Milwaukee homicide, accused of stabbing girlfriend to death

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Turkish National faces homicide charges for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death.

According to court documents, Serkan Akcilad claims he found his girlfriend dead inside their apartment about three weeks earlier.

When officers went to the apartment, they saw the victim had been dead for a significant amount of time. They also found evidence that the scene had been cleaned.

The suspect later told police that when he found his girlfriend dead, he attempted to commit suicide with a nail gun. Doctors later removed a nail from his brain.

He denied killing the victim or cleaning the apartment of blood.

Akcilad is scheduled to be in court on Wednesday, March 19 for a preliminary hearing.
