MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Marquette student newspaper reports a grad student's visa is being revoked by the Trump administration.

The university says, "the exact reason for the termination is not clear."

It comes one day after a federal judge put a UW-Madison student's looming deportation on pause.

Earlier this month, the Indian student's visa was revoked by the Department of Homeland Security following a criminal records check.

He was arrested last year for disorderly conduct. But those charges were later dropped, leading the judge to rule that his student visa was likely canceled improperly.

"They have done nothing to deserve this. I have not had one student whose background justifies SEVIS termination," said Attorney Shabnam Lotfi.

This ruling comes amid nationwide protests and additional lawsuits filed in both Chicago and Atlanta.

The canceling of student visas is now raising anxiety among immigrant student groups dealing with an uncertain future.

"The betrayal that they feel," Lotfi said, "The betrayal that they feel from the U.S., that the U.S. would treat them like this."

Here at home, 13 current or former UW-Milwaukee students have had their visas revoked.

The attorney for the Madison student is now planning to file a second suit in Wisconsin in the near future.

She says a donor is planning to cover legal costs for more students in the same situation so they can properly fight their deportation.
